I made this card for a dear friend and thought I'd share it with you. I used the technique for making a flower with a border punch to add a border around the stamped image on this card. The leaves are from the Embrace Life stamp set which I love..it is so versatile. They were colored lightly with my aqua painter along with bashful blue around the leaves so there was a soft color. The pretty in pink flowers are from the trio of flowers punch, I added dimension by running my embossing stylus over the flowers on the setting mat from the mat pack. I ran the distressing tool around all the edges of the card, including the greeting. I like that this card has a shabby chic look to it, I hope my friend will like it too!

I have been away from blogging for awhile, but I've been keeping up with the trends by keeping up with my favorite Yahoo Group, Late Night Stampers. (To join, click on the owl in the sidebar.) One of the things I've seen everyone doing is handmade flowers using different techniques. I tried some out last month and I am finally getting a chance to share them with you. I tried one of each of the styles I've seen floating around. I hope you like them, because I had a lot of fun making them!
I used the scallop border punch for this flower. The great tutorial I used for this was from Ilina Crouse and you can find it here. (Thanks Ilina..I LOVE your Blog!)
This flower is a combo of a couple different styles. The bottom flower is done with DSP fan folded and the ends glued together to form a flower. I saw this in Stampin' Success. The top flower goes back to my ribbon flower days. I just carefully pulled the stitching from one side of the double stitched ribbon to make the ribbon gather (that's why I chose this ribbon...less work for me!). I topped the flower off with a button. I got lucky and had a button to match the base color of the flower..I didn't plan this project out at all..I was just playing around and it turned out ok!
This last flower is super simple. I punched a bunch of scallop circles and scrunched them up. I opened them up, used my paper piercing tool to put a hole in the middle of each, and joined them together with a brad. Once they were joined together, I adjusted each piece to give the right dimension.

The cards are done! I stayed up until 2am last night finishing my card samples for Tuesday's class. Ben (my 4 month old) has started teething in a big way...so needless to say, I have had my hands full!
This first is called a side step card. I CASED this awesome card from Connie Babbert, I just loved her idea to use the snowman. On the right back step, you can put a photo to share. This picture doesn't have one...at 2am I was too tired to dig one up!
This next picture shows the card from the side.
The next card we are making is called an easel card. This card also stands up for easy display and it fits into an invitation envelope as does the side step card.
I love this color combo..it's not the usual red and green.
Here is the side view. The pink paper strip keeps the card front in place so it can be displayed. There is a greeting inside and room for sentiments.

Woo Hoo! I was finally able to sneak away and stamp! I love Halloween so I chose to do a 3x3 card that I knew I could get done in less than 20 minutes. Here's what I came up with.
I wanted a card that didn't have ribbon. I am trapped in the same design cycle, I use ribbon on absolutely everything. It took a me a little longer to think about a design that was out of the box for me. But I am happy with the way it turned out in the end. I used the Twick or Tweet set from the Holiday Mini Catalog...love it!! I also used the Night and Day DSP available in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I added Crystal Effects #101055 to the pumpkins to add dimension after they were colored in with my Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Marker #105115. The base of the basket from the die cut Baskets & Blooms served as my background for the pumpkins.
Here is a close up of the pumpkins to help you see the sheen from the Crystal Effects #101055.
For the inside of the card I mimicked the front but did not use DSP for the Basket base, I used Whisper White paper #100730.

I'm half-way through the 30 baby announcements that I need to complete. I wanted to get this posted earlier..but my days are quite busy! I say every day "I'm going to get some stamping done.." then before I know it, the day is gone and I haven't set foot near my stamp room! Anyway, here is the sample of Ben's announcement. I tried to keep it cute but simple. The only thing that has slowed me down is the punching and gluing. But I am happy with the outcome. Here is the photo I am sending with the announcement.
Isn't he cute! He was three weeks old in this picture. Now he is 6 weeks and I can't believe how fast it has gone! Here is a picture of Big Sis (Sofia) with Ben, she can't be left out at all or the green monster comes out!

I've been away for a few weeks, with good reason... Baby Benjamin has arrived!! He was born on July 29th, 3 days past due! The last few weeks of the pregnancy were hard, I felt like a beached whale!! But it was all worth it!! Benjamin was 9lb 10 oz and 20 3/4 inches long, He will be a tall guy like Daddy! He's been a real joy and we are very blessed. I will post the baby announcement once I finish it this week. I hope to get back into stamping soon, but for right now I'm enjoying time with my family. Take care!!
